Read from Musa CAD 0.8.0 itself (musacad --dump-wiki-data), so these facts always match the release this wiki is built for (0.8.0).

MOVE shifts objects to a new place without changing their size or direction. You show how far to move them with two points, or type the distance.

Type M and press Enter. Select the objects and press Enter. Then click a base point, a point to move from, and a second point, where the base point should end up. The objects follow the cursor between the two clicks, so you can see where they will land.

Moved.
A rectangle with a circle inside, drawn dashed in grey on the left, and the same shape in blue 60 units to the right. Point 1 is the lower-left corner of the dashed shape, point 2 the lower-left corner of the blue one. An arrow between them is labelled @60,0.
Base point 1, second point @60,0: the objects move from the dashed place to the blue one.

The second point is measured from the base point, so @60,0 means 60 to the right. You can also snap to an object to move something exactly onto it.

OptionWhat it does
Displacement (D)Asks Specify displacement <0.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000>:. Type how far to move as X,Y, such as 40,10 for 40 right and 10 up. Enter there moves by the distance shown.
Enter at Specify base pointSame as Displacement.
Enter at Specify second pointUses the base point’s coordinates as the distance. A base point of 40,10 moves the objects 40 right and 10 up.

At Select objects: you build up the set of objects to move. Each pick or window adds to it, and Musa CAD says how many it found, such as 1 found. or 2 found, 5 total.

  • Click an object to add it.
  • Click an empty spot, then click again to draw a box. Going from left to right makes a window: it takes only objects that lie completely inside. Going from right to left makes a crossing window: it also takes objects that only touch it.
  • Press and drag to draw a free shape, called a lasso. Start dragging to the right for a window, to the left for a crossing.
  • Hold Shift and click a selected object to take it out again.
  • Press Enter, or right-click, when the set is complete. If nothing is selected, MOVE ends.

If objects are already selected when you start MOVE, it uses them and goes straight to the base point. You can also type a keyword at Select objects:, such as ALL for everything or P for the objects the last edit worked on. SELECT lists them all.

  • MOVE remembers the last distance it moved by and offers it as the default at Displacement, such as <60.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000>. It starts at zero each time you open Musa CAD.
  • The moved objects stay selected afterwards.
  • Associative dimensions and hatches that are attached to the moved objects go with them, even if you did not select them.
  • Objects on layers that are off, frozen or locked cannot be selected.
  • One MOVE is one undo step. Esc before the second point cancels, and nothing moves.
  • Turn on Ortho or Polar tracking to move exactly sideways or at a set angle. You can then point the cursor and type just the distance.

MOVE uses the same prompts and options AutoCAD users know, including Displacement and Enter to use the first point as the distance.
