How to report a bug
A good bug report gets a problem fixed quickly. Musa CAD helps by writing most of it for you.
After a crash
Section titled “After a crash”If Musa CAD closes unexpectedly, it saves a report about what happened. The next time you start it, a window titled Musa CAD closed unexpectedly offers that report.
The report holds:
- the Musa CAD version and your system;
- the last commands you ran;
- where in the program it stopped.
It holds no drawing contents, only the drawing’s file name. The window shows the whole report, so you can read it before you share it.
- In the Musa CAD closed unexpectedly window, click Save Report As… to save a copy, or Copy to copy the text. Open Folder shows where the report is kept.
- Open a new issue on GitHub.
- Say what you were doing when it crashed, and attach the report.
When it misbehaves without crashing
Section titled “When it misbehaves without crashing”Choose Save Bug Report… from the application menu (the Musa CAD logo at the top left). It writes the same kind of report while Musa CAD is still running: the version, your system and your recent commands. Attach it to your issue.
Where the reports are kept
Section titled “Where the reports are kept”Each report is a text file named musacad-report- followed by the date. Older reports stay in the same folder.
| Installed as | Folder |
|---|---|
| Linux, AppImage | ~/.local/share/Musa-CAD/musa_cad/crash-reports |
| Linux, Flatpak | ~/.var/app/org.musacad.MusaCAD/data/Musa-CAD/musa_cad/crash-reports |
| Windows | %LOCALAPPDATA%\Musa-CAD\musa_cad\crash-reports |
What a good issue says
Section titled “What a good issue says”- What you did, step by step, starting from a new or attached drawing.
- What happened, and what you expected instead. Quote any message exactly.
- Your version and system: the Musa CAD version, your operating system, and whether you installed from Flathub, the AppImage, a Flatpak file or the Windows installer.
- The drawing, if you can share it. A small drawing that shows the same problem is even better.
If Musa CAD does something differently from AutoCAD, describe what AutoCAD does in your own words.
