Completemade from Musa CAD's own dataChecked against Musa CAD 0.8.0Verified

TRIM and EXTEND with AutoCAD's modes and by a path; FILLET, LENGTHEN, JOIN and PEDIT options; OVERKILL to BLEND; DIM, QDIM and dimension editing; layers at the command line; the system clipboard; crash reports.

Released
File format
Saves .musa version 39, and opens every version from 1 to 39. Files saved by 0.7.0 need 0.7.0 or newer; files from 0.6.0 open unchanged.
Newer
This is not the newest release. Musa CAD 0.8.0 is.

The notes below are the release notes from the Musa CAD repository, as published with the release.

The modify and dimension-editing release: TRIM and EXTEND with AutoCAD’s modes, by a path, on ellipses and construction lines, and showing what a pick would do; FILLET on parallel lines and polylines; LENGTHEN, JOIN and PEDIT brought to AutoCAD’s options; new tools from OVERKILL to BLEND; DIM, QDIM and the commands that edit dimensions already drawn; layers at the command line; the system clipboard; and crash reports.

Linux, macOS and Windows. The Linux AppImage, the Flatpak bundle and the macOS disk image shipped with the tag; the Windows installer was added after verification on real Windows hardware. It is built from main one commit past the tag, a Windows-only fix: a crash report for an exception nothing caught names the exception, as it does on Linux. Everything else is the tagged source. A v0.6.0 installation updates to it from the Update window.

If you are coming from v0.6.0, the native format moved from v38 to v39 (a dimension’s text angle, an arc-length dimension’s leader, oblique extension lines): v0.6.0 files open unchanged, files saved by v0.7.0 need v0.7.0 or newer.

[cuTting edges/Crossing/mOde/Project/eRase] with Quick mode (every object cuts; an object with nothing to trim it to is deleted) and Standard (choose the cutting edges first). Press on empty space and drag across the objects to trim each one where the path crosses it — or click twice for a straight fence, or type Fence points — all in one undo step. Crossing trims the objects a window crosses, Edge Extend lets an edge cut along its extension, eRase erases without leaving the command, and Shift swaps trim and extend for one pick. They work on ellipses and elliptical arcs, construction lines and rays, and a polyline’s arc end too.

Hovering an object shows what the pick would do: the part TRIM would cut away, the length EXTEND would add, and — at FILLET’s and CHAMFER’s second prompt — both objects as they would be with the arc or the bevel (Shift: the sharp corner).

  • FILLET joins two parallel lines with a half circle, and a line with a polyline’s end segment (or two polylines) into one polyline with the corner rounded.
  • LENGTHEN reports the length of what you pick, takes DYnamic and an arc’s Angle, goes from one object to the next with Undo, and works on polylines and elliptical arcs.
  • JOIN takes a source object or a window; lines along one line, arcs on one circle and elliptical arcs on one ellipse become one object each, and cLose makes the circle or the ellipse.
  • PEDIT Fit puts two arcs on each segment, smooth at every vertex; Multiple edits every polyline selected, with a fuzz distance for Join.
  • DIVIDE and MEASURE place a Block at the marks, turned to the curve if asked.
  • New: REVERSE, OVERKILL (duplicates deleted, overlapping lines made one), COPYTOLAYER, CHPROP, BLEND (a spline between two ends, Tangent or Smooth) and REDO / MREDO as commands.

LAYOFF, LAYFRZ, LAYLCK, LAYULK, LAYMCUR, LAYCUR, LAYMCH, LAYISO / LAYUNISO, LAYON and LAYTHW, several of them on the Home tab’s Layers panel. LAYER (LA) opens the Layer Properties Manager and -LAYER works on layers at the command line: list, make, set, add, rename, and switch them on, off, frozen or locked by name and wild card, with their colour, linetype and lineweight.

TRACE, SOLID, BOUNDARY (closed polylines round the area a hatch would fill), CENTERMARK and CENTERLINE. ELLIPSE previews its Rotation step and PELLIPSE 1 draws ellipses as polylines of arcs; REVCLOUD draws the Calligraphy style and remembers its type.

  • DIM places one dimension after another, each suited to what you pick — a line aligned (a second line: the angle between them), a circle by its diameter, an arc by its radius — previewing it as you hover, with aliGn, Distribute and Layer (DIMLAYER) for dimensions already drawn.
  • QDIM dimensions the selected geometry at once: a chain, staggered, from a baseline, ordinates, radii or diameters.
  • DIMEDIT and DIMTEDIT put text home, replace it, rotate it, slide it left or right, or slant a dimension’s extension lines (Oblique); DIMSPACE spaces parallel dimensions; DIMCENTER marks a centre; DIMOVERRIDE gives dimensions settings of their own.
  • Angle at every dimension’s placement prompt; DIMARC’s Partial and Leader; DIMCONTINUE and DIMBASELINE’s Select and Undo (and an Offset for the baseline), chaining angular and ordinate dimensions too.
  • The system clipboard: Ctrl+C and Ctrl+X put the objects on it as Musa CAD objects and as a picture; Ctrl+V pastes them into another window, and pastes images and text other programs copy. COPYBASE, CUTBASE and PASTEORIG too.
  • ORTHO, SNAP and GRID at the command line.
  • Crash reports: if Musa CAD stops unexpectedly, the next start shows a report to save and attach to an issue; Save Bug Report… writes one at any time.
  • Building from source with GCC takes half the memory it did.
  • The drawing area starts on NVIDIA graphics under Wayland instead of saying OpenGL is missing (#82) — thanks to @devgarden-de for tracing it.
  • PURGE kept removing a layer used only inside a block definition, and removing a layer left block contents and undo on the wrong layers; both are fixed.
  • A command’s own Undo (TRIM, LENGTHEN, FILLET, DIM, DIMCONTINUE and the rest) no longer takes back what came before the command when one of its steps changed nothing.
  • Picking an ellipse no longer misses it near half its outline, moving or pasting one no longer leaves copies in the preview, and EXTEND on an arc stops where a curved boundary really is.
