Settings and system variables
Most of Musa CAD’s settings have sensible starting values, so you can draw without touching any of them. This chapter shows where to find them when you want something different.
The main settings windows
Section titled “The main settings windows”| Window | Open with | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| Options | OP | Whether Musa CAD checks for updates, and the performance overlay. |
| Drafting Settings | DS or OS | Snap and grid, polar tracking, object snaps, and Dynamic Input. |
| Drawing Units | UN | How lengths and angles are shown, their precision, and the drawing’s unit. |
| Dimension Style Manager | D | How dimensions look. |
| Text Style | ST | Fonts and text sizes. |
System variables
Section titled “System variables”A system variable is a single named setting, such as PICKBOX for the size of the pick box or FILLETRAD for the fillet radius. Type its name and press Enter. Musa CAD shows the current value in angle brackets; type a new one, or press Enter to keep it:
Command: PICKBOXEnter new value for PICKBOX <10>: 15SETVAR does the same and can list them. The system variable reference has a page for every variable Musa CAD has, with its starting value.
What travels with a drawing
Section titled “What travels with a drawing”Some settings belong to the drawing and are saved in the .musa file, so anyone who opens it sees the same thing. These include the drawing units, the limits, the linetype scale, the layers, and the text, dimension, table and multileader styles.
Other settings belong to you and stay the same in every drawing you open, such as your keyboard shortcuts, your command aliases, the Dynamic Input settings and the update check.
Where your own settings are kept
Section titled “Where your own settings are kept”| System | Settings | Command aliases |

| Windows | the registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Musa-CAD\musa_cad | %LOCALAPPDATA%\Musa-CAD\musa_cad\musacaduser.pgp |
