QSAVE

CompleteChecked against Musa CAD 0.8.0Verified

Save the drawing under its name (Save As the first time).

Type
QSAVE
On the ribbon
Not on the ribbon. Type it, or find it with the command search above the ribbon.
What it does first
It saves the drawing (the first time, it shows the Save dialog).

Read from Musa CAD 0.8.0 itself (musacad --dump-wiki-data), so these facts always match the release this wiki is built for (0.8.0).

QSAVE saves the drawing you are working on, under the file name it already has. It is the same as pressing Ctrl+S or clicking Save on the Quick Access Toolbar.

Type QSAVE and press Enter. Musa CAD writes the drawing to its file and says how many objects it saved. QSAVE has no options and asks nothing more.

Command line
Command: QSAVE
Saved 128 entities.

If the drawing has never been saved, it has no file name yet, so QSAVE asks for one in the Save Drawing As window, just as SAVEAS does. Type a name, choose a folder and click Save. Musa CAD adds .musa if you leave it off. Every later QSAVE uses that name without asking.

Command line
Command: QSAVE
(type a name in the Save Drawing As window and click Save)
Saved 128 entities.
  • QSAVE always writes Musa CAD’s own format, a .musa file. To make a DXF file, use EXPORT. For DWG, use DWGOUT.
  • A drawing you brought in from a DXF file has no .musa name yet, so the first QSAVE asks for one. The DXF file itself is not changed.
  • QSAVE writes over the file and keeps no backup copy. To keep the old version, save under a new name with SAVEAS first.
  • With the Block Editor open, saving is refused: Close the Block Editor (BCLOSE) before saving: the drawing's other objects are hidden while it is open. Close it with BCLOSE and save again.
  • If the file cannot be written, for example in a folder you may not write to, Musa CAD says Cannot write file: or Write failed: with the file’s path.
  • In the Flatpak version, if you type a name without .musa, Musa CAD saves under exactly the name you typed and says why: the sandbox lets it write only the name chosen in the window.
  • Each save also stores the total editing time and the time of the save, which TIME shows.

QSAVE works as it does in AutoCAD: it saves under the drawing’s name and asks for a name only the first time. The file it writes is Musa CAD’s .musa format, not DWG.
