What it asks first

Command line
Command: MATCHPROP
Select source object:

Read from Musa CAD 0.8.0 itself (musacad --dump-wiki-data), so these facts always match the release this wiki is built for (0.8.0).

MATCHPROP copies properties from one object to others, like a paintbrush. Pick the object that looks right, then click the objects that should look the same. Their layer, colour, linetype and more change to match.

Type MA and press Enter. Click the source object, the one to copy from. Musa CAD lists the properties it will copy, and the cursor becomes a paintbrush. Then click each object to change, or drag a window over several. Press Enter when you are done.

Command line
Command: MA
Select source object: (click the source object)
Current active settings: Color Layer Ltype Ltscale Lineweight Transparency Thickness PlotStyle Dim Text Hatch Polyline Viewport Table Material Shadow display Multileader Center object
MATCHPROP: source selected -- pick destination objects.
Select destination object(s) or [Settings]: (click an object)
Properties matched to 1 object(s).
Select destination object(s) or [Settings]: (drag a window over three objects)
Properties matched to 3 object(s).
Select destination object(s) or [Settings]: Enter

If an object is already selected when you start MATCHPROP, it becomes the source straight away, and Musa CAD says MATCHPROP: source = selection -- pick destination objects. With several selected, the first one is the source.

OptionWhat it does
Settings (S)Opens the Property Settings window, where you choose which properties are copied. Afterwards Musa CAD shows the new Current active settings: line.
Enter at Select destination object(s)Ends the command.

Some properties are copied between any two objects. Others are copied only between objects of the same family, for example from one text to another, and only where both objects have that property.

Kind of propertyWhat it coversCopied between
BasicColour, layer, linetype, linetype scale, lineweight and transparency. A ByLayer setting is copied as ByLayer.Any objects
TextHeight, justification, font, text style, width factor, line spacing and attachment; for leaders, the arrowhead type and size and the label colour.Single-line text, MTEXT, leaders and multileaders
DimensionArrowhead type and size, dimension line colour, extension line colour, text height, text colour, text placement, precision and text fit.Dimensions
HatchPattern, scale and angle.Hatches
PolylineThe width of all segments.Polylines

The words of a text, its rotation and the width of an MTEXT box are never copied, and neither is the shape or position of anything.

Type S at Select destination object(s) to open it. Every box is ticked at first. Untick a property to stop it being copied, then click OK. Cancel keeps the settings as they were. Musa CAD remembers your choice for next time.

  • Basic Properties: Color, Layer, Lineweight, Linetype, Linetype Scale, Plot Style, Transparency, Thickness.
  • Special Properties: Dimension, Text, Hatch, Polyline, Viewport, Table, Material, Shadow display, Multileader, Center object.

Some boxes are greyed out, with the tip Not yet applicable in Musa CAD: Plot Style, Transparency, Thickness, Polyline, Viewport, Material, Shadow display and Center object.

  • Each click or window is one undo step, so U takes back the last one.
  • Objects on locked, frozen or turned-off layers are skipped. Clicking the source object itself does nothing.
  • If nothing you picked could take any of the ticked properties, Musa CAD says Nothing to match.
  • A click on empty space as the source says MATCHPROP: no source object found.
  • Transparency and a polyline’s width are copied even though their boxes are greyed out, because those boxes stay ticked.
  • The Table and Multileader boxes do not change anything yet. A multileader’s text properties follow the Text box.
  • Esc ends the command. The changes you already made stay.

MATCHPROP shows AutoCAD’s Current active settings: line and the same Basic and Special Properties in its Settings window. The ones Musa CAD does not have yet, such as Plot Style, Material and Viewport, are shown but greyed out.
