LIST

CompleteChecked against Musa CAD 0.8.0Verified

List the selected objects: kind, layer, space, handle, properties, geometry, area and perimeter.

Type
LIST or LI
On the ribbon
  • Home › Properties (slide-out) › List
  • Home › Utilities › Measure › List

What it asks first

Command line
Command: LIST
Select objects:

Read from Musa CAD 0.8.0 itself (musacad --dump-wiki-data), so these facts always match the release this wiki is built for (0.8.0).

LIST tells you everything Musa CAD knows about an object: what kind it is, its layer and other properties, and its exact geometry. Use it to check a length, a radius or an area, or to find out why an object looks the way it does. It changes nothing.

Type LI and press Enter. Select the objects, then press Enter. Musa CAD prints a block of facts for each one. If objects are already selected when you start LIST, it lists them straight away.

Each block has the same parts, in this order.

PartWhat it tells you
Kind and LayerThe kind of object in capitals, such as LINE, CIRCLE, POLYLINE or MTEXT, and the layer it is on.
SpaceModel space, or Paper space followed by the layout’s name in brackets.
HandleMusa CAD’s own number for the object. Yours will be different from the example.
Color, Linetype, LineweightBYLAYER when the object takes it from its layer. Otherwise the colour as red, green and blue numbers (such as 255,0,0), the linetype’s name, and the lineweight in mm (such as 0.35 mm). If the object has its own linetype scale, Linetype scale: follows. A hidden object shows (hidden).
GeometryOne fact per line. What you see depends on the kind of object; see below.
SizeA line ends with its length, angle and X and Y differences. A circle ends with its area and circumference. A closed polyline, ellipse, spline or hatch ends with its area and perimeter; an open one with its length. An arc ends with its length and the angle it spans.

The geometry lines for common objects:

ObjectGeometry lines
Linefrom (x,y) to (x,y), length
Circlecentre (x,y), radius
Arccentre (x,y), radius, from start angle to end angle
Polylinethe number of vertices, open or closed, and constant width or the segment widths if it has any
Ellipsecenter (x,y), major radius, minor radius, rotation
Textheight, and the words in quotes
Dimensionmeasures, the value measured from the points it is attached to, and any text override
Tablethe number of rows and columns

Lengths and angles use the drawing’s units. By default, lengths show four decimals and angles show whole degrees. Change this with UNITS.

  • A dimension’s report shows what it really measures, worked out from its points. If someone typed different text over the number, the text override shows that too, so you can spot it.
  • LIST changes nothing, so it adds no undo step.
  • The report can be long. Scroll the command line to read it all.
  • To list every object in the drawing, use DBLIST.

LIST prints a block per object laid out like AutoCAD’s, with the kind and layer first, then the space, handle and properties, then the geometry.

  • Measure between two points with DIST.
  • See and change properties in the PROPERTIES palette.
  • Find an area and perimeter with AREA.
